ECPSC in the Community
Etherow Country Park Sailing Club is very much a part of the local community. Our commitment to being accessible to all has been reflected in 2010 by the award of Community Amateur Sports Club status by HMRC.
We host several local groups who hold their meetings in our club house, and you will find information about those groups in our Introduction page.
We are always keen to ensure that our neighbours - both in the local communities of Compstall, Marple and Romiley, and the wider community of Stockport and beyond - are kept in touch with our activities and events.
Non sailing events are highlighted particularly to our local neighbours in Compstall by leaflets - who could resist an invitation to join in our Summer Treasure Hunt, or our Winter Woodland Walk!
Larger events are signposted to the wider community in places such as Decathlon, and Shipshape Marine in Hazel Grove. Or you can always contact us direct by completing our enquiry form if you have a particular question.
If you are a visitor to Etherow Country Park you will undoubtedly pass by our humble sailing club, and have a chance to see the notices we post - both in our windows and our notice board - highlighting current events and details of a person to contact if you are interested in joining in one of our many activities and events.
We are a very friendly little club, which has many families in its membership, and we always welcome enquiries from possible new blood.
We offer taster sessions to anyone who is interested in seeing if sailing is for you! We run a Family Fun Day annually to give parents and children the chance to try out sailing together.
Last year for the first time we introduced an 'Over 50s' taster session - if that's of interest to you get in touch - we'll see if there's enough interest to run another! We also run a sailing course each year commencing in late May for approx 8-10 weeks ……… So, if you think that joining our club may be for you - and you are interested in your local community - get in touch to set your own sails with our club.
