Welcome to
E.C.P.S.C.

Thank you visiting the website of the Etherow Country Park Sailing Club, the only sailing club in Stockport.
Feel free to browse our site and see what we have to offer.

Come Sailing in 2010

The great thing about sailing is that as soon as you get afloat all other concerns disappear as you focus on the boat and harnessing the wind.

Etherow is a friendly club (except when racing but even then it is good natured rivalry) and we welcome everyone from those who may never have put their foot in a dinghy before, to Olympic team coach.

Membership is inexpensive and we have some club boats that can be used, for a nominal charge, during the early stages. There are plenty of boats for sale within the club and elsewhere for very little money.

Intro to Sailing Course

Our annual Intro to Sailing Course is underway but it\'s not too late to join in. There are Taster Sessions on the evenings of Friday May 7th and May 14th.

The course itself commences on May 21st and runs each Friday night until July 23rd.

There are five sessions covering both theory and practical so you will understand and get the feeling of how to use the wind, the water and the boat to go where you want in a really enviornmentally friendly way. Then there are three weeks of fun practice sailing inclusing the chance to race against each other.

The course follows the skills required for the RYA Level 2 Dinghy qualification though as we are not an official school, anyone wanting the certificate will be able to take the test at a nearby centre under a special arrangement we have with them.

Please fill in our on-line enquiry form.

Southport 24 Hour: Well done to our mixed ability team who still achieved a great 19th place out of 76 entrants.
Fancy sailing?

You do not need to be an accomplished sailor to join the club.

If you are really interested, you could always begin by crewing for an experienced helmsperson and learn as you go.

To get going you could click here to send a message to the Sailing Captain for a taster session out on the water.
