Have you been inspired by the success of the sailors at the Olympics? You may also have noticed that many of those top performers started their sailing careers on inland waters and come from all kinds of backgrounds.
It might be unrealistic to say you could start sailing in 2008 and take gold in the 2012 Olympics, but how about 2016 or 2020 as a target? The time to start is now, so do use our contact page to get in touch.
Congratulations to Tony and Sam Woods who came eighth in the 2008 Enterprise Nationals at Tenby, winning one of the series of races. The weather conditions were extreme with some boats in the 54 strong fleet breaking masts and booms and others staying on the beach during the worst.
This was their last major event as a father and son team in the same boat and marks the end of a superb run of success. Tony and Sam will be helming their own boats in the future so needle matches can be expected.
In the same event, John Berry and crew Fiona Rattigan came 41st while The Twins, Karen Morris and Lisa Woods, were the only all female team and they won an award as third in the women's competition.
There have been big turnouts on Thursday evenings at Etherow through the summer while Sunday afternoons have been reasonable considering the number of people away on summer holidays.
